Instructor: John Roth, M.S.
Date: Saturday, May 19, 2018
Location: Meet at SFI, Selma, OR
Tuition: $60

In this one-day course, we’ll gain an overview of serpentine ecology, learning why the Klamath Geologic Province has the largest exposed outcrop of serpentine minerals in the western hemisphere and perhaps the most concentrated set of ultramafic rocks of any province. We will visit the Jeffrey Pine savanna at SFI and 8 Dollar Mountain serpentine fen to observe how our region’s concentration of ultramafic rocks and unique serpentine soils impacts plants, fungi, animals and microbes.
