2019 A Post-Fire Kalmiopsis Exploration

Frtillaria    Smilacina   Darmera

PLEASE NOTE: Because of the unsafe condition of the Briggs Creek bridge, we have revised this field course as a botanical itinerary along the Illinois River. The group will travel by carpool and take short hikes along the river to observe and learn about early blooming native plants and wildlife.

Instructors: Lee Webb, M.S., Christine McCullough, M.S.
Date: Sunday, April 21, 2019
Location: Meet at SFI, Selma, OR
Tuition: $60

We will explore the Illinois River and its tributaries to the edge of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, stopping to observe the impact of last summer's Klondike Fire. In a series of short hikes, we'll learn about the area's native plants and observe many of them in bloom. Well meet at SFI for a brief introduction, then carpool as far as 21 miles west along the river.
