2019 Introduction to Butterflies and Moths of the Siskiyous

Butterflies of the Siskiyous
SFI Photo
Instructor: Dana Ross, M.S.
Dates: Friday – Sunday p.m., June 14-16, 2019
Location: SFI and the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument outside Ashland
Tuition: $165

We will explore the world of Lepidoptera — the butterflies and moths — in this three-day course. Starting with an introduction to butterfly/moth morphology, life cycles, ecology and behavior, we’ll then view images and inspect specimens of Siskiyou species. Friday and Saturday afternoons, we’ll work in the field, learning how to properly and carefully net and collect, and then we’ll inspect netted butterflies. We’ll spend the entire day Sunday in the field near the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
