Instructor Inquiry Letter
Call for Course Proposals for the SFI 2014 Field Season
Dear Prospective Instructors,
Greetings from the Siskiyou Field Institute. It is hard to imagine, but we are yet
again beginning the process of coordinating courses and speaking engagements for
the coming year. The instructors and the expertise they bring is what makes the
Institute possible. As you plan your course(s) for this coming season, consider
what elements of the region’s ecology and natural history you feel would be valuable
for our participants to learn. We look forward to reading all of your new course
proposals and ideas, along with tried and true ones.
As in previous seasons, we will be offering classes throughout the year.
We will also continue our popular “Speaker Series” in 2010. Please let us
know if you would be interested in presenting a talk as a part of this series.
Once proposals for courses and talks are submitted, they are compiled and
selected for the season by a committee. Selected proposals will then be
developed for listing in the Siskiyou Field Institute’s catalog.
The Siskiyou Field Institute is dedicated to offering engaging, informative
instruction on all aspects of Klamath-Siskiyou natural history. We are
fortunate to have the Deer Creek Center in Selma, Oregon at our fingertips
to serve as a meeting place and living laboratory. The center, equipped with
a yurt, solar-powered bathhouse as well as private and dorm rooms for
visitors, make multiple day classes feasible and fun. Did you know that
while you are instructing a class you can camp or stay in the yurt at no charge?
You can also opt to stay in private rooms or the dorm in the house at half price.
Please return your completed course proposal form by August 14th, 2011,
so that we can begin the selection process and organizing of the catalog.
Please return your course proposal via email to email@example.com
or by regular mail to:

Thank you for your willingness to share your knowledge of the
Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion with our course participants.
Your efforts are truly the heart of the Institute’s success. I look forward
to reading your proposals.
