2014 Intermediate State of Jefferson Dragonflies

Instructors: Kathy and Dave Biggs
Date: Sunday, July 20, 2014
Location: Deer Creek Center, Selma
Tuition: $55 for one day; $100 for both

Sign up for just the introductory class (day 1), just the intermediate level class (day 2), or both classes. Learn about the tracking and conservation efforts of the Xerces Society’s Dragonfly Migration Project. Then the class will delve into more unusual dragonfly species -- including the gorgeous Emeralds, Clubtails, Petaltail, Spiketail and Cruiser Dragonflies and the interesting Spreadwing and Broad-winged Damselflies — not commonly found on lowland ponds and lakes. After a morning classroom session we’ll foray into a local river followed by an expedition to a high mountain lake where we may also encounter Giant Pacific Salamanders. The day will conclude in Deer Creek and above it in the Darlingtonia fen where participants may find themselves surrounded by rare Black Petaltail dragonflies!
